A Lightweight Utility Workhorse
Robinson R66
R66 In Numbers
Clients consistently appreciate the R66 for its noticeable performance and comfort advantages. It carries more, cruises faster, and delivers the smooth reliability of a turbine platform. After experiencing the R66, most customers continue to choose it over the R44 for future missions.
Despite the added capability, it remains economical to operate, burning approximately 23 to 24 gallons per hour of Jet A, which is typically the more affordable fuel option in Alaska. Because it moves more passengers and gear at higher speeds while burning a cheaper fuel, many missions are competitively priced with the R44 while offering greater overall efficiency.
The baggage compartment is a significant advantage. Located aft of the rear right seat, it measures approximately 24 inches high by 33 inches wide by 40 inches deep and accommodates up to 300 pounds. This dedicated cargo space allows transport of equipment, tools, and luggage without compromising cabin comfort.
The R66 also represents strong value. Unless the mission requires lifting a single very heavy external load, two R66 aircraft can often accomplish more than one AStar at a lower =, providing flexibility, redundancy, and operational efficiency.
