R44 In Numbers

The Robinson R44 is a 2-bladed, standard configuration, reciprocating engine powered helicopter. It one of the most common helicopters in the world, known for excelling in a wide variety of mission types in all corners of the globe. Pollux Aviation has extensive experience utilizing the R44 airframe throughout Alaska, and is ready to leverage its capabilities to help with transport, utility, tourism, and survey tasks. The helicopter's small size and economical operating cost provide a simple and effective solution for many of the most common operations in Alaska - and with its reliability and requirement for only one crew member, it is also one of the most turn-key machines to implement into a job plan. 
 
The R44 can be equipped with pop-out floats for over water flights, allowing operations to take place over large bodies of water or even off-shore. They are streamlined for minimum performance penalty, and are inflated only in an emergency. It can also be equipped with fixed utility floats, which remain inflated at all times. These allow even greater versatility and even the ability to land on calm bodies of water - but incur more of a performance penalty. The R44 may be equipped with external cargo racks, which greatly increase the space available for carrying cargo. Each rack can support up to 100lbs of equipment outside the helicopter to be brought to a jobsite. Alternatively, a closed basket pod may be fitted to the aircraft to carry items more securely, at a slightly increased performance penalty.
