Pollux Safety Mission and Objectives
Safety first in every operation.
Pollux aviation is committed to conducting all operations including flights, maintenance, and ground support in a way that prioritizes the safety of all Pollux staff, passengers, aircraft, and the public at large. Safety comes first.
Our mission is to proactively assess, identify, and manage risk while fostering a strong safety culture within the Pollux staff.
Every employee and passenger should feel empowered to actively participate in hazard identification and safety improvement.

The objectives of Pollux Aviation’s Safety Management System (SMS) are to:
-
Prevent accidents, incidents, and injuries
-
Identify hazards before they result in harm
-
Reduce operational risk
-
Continuously improve safety performance
-
Ensure compliance with all applicable FAA regulations and guidance
Every person who sets foot inside the hangar or one of the Pollux helicopters is placing an immense amount of trust in us as a company and in our individual pilots and mechanics.

We take safety seriously.
We strive to promote a safety culture that recognizes this trust and meets it with a high level of attention to detail when it comes to safety while still being able to complete job functions.
Additional Pilot Training
We take training seriously, and we invest in our pilots so they have the knowledge and skills to be well rounded members of your crew. In addition to flying, we provide our pilots with the following training:

Bear Guard Training
All Pollux pilots are trained and certified in Bear Safety Foundations and Firearms for Bear Defense. This certification supports compliance with many local, State of Alaska, and insurance requirements while strengthening our crews’ ability to recognize bear behavior, avoid negative encounters, and respond appropriately in the field.

Wilderness First Aid
Pollux pilots complete Wilderness First Aid training and certification to better prepare for remote operations across Alaska. This training supports our crews’ ability to recognize and respond to injuries, medical concerns, and emergency situations in the field, giving clients added confidence when working in remote locations where outside help may be delayed.

Glacier & Crevasse Rescue
Pollux pilots receive Glacier Safety and Crevasse Rescue training to support safe decision-making in Alaska’s complex mountain and glacier environments. With training in hazard recognition, glacier travel awareness, rope systems, and emergency response, our crews are better equipped to assist with remote projects where changing snow, ice, and terrain conditions require additional preparation and care.
